Getting started with Boulie + Claude
Talk to your coach in Claude, keep riding with Strava, and use Boulie as the clear, dependable home for your training plan.
Before you start
Have these three accounts ready. Use the same email for Boulie throughout setup.
- Boulie appYour TestFlight or Android invite
- Claude Pro or higherConnectors require a paid Claude plan
- Strava accountYour existing ride history
Install Boulie and fill in your Brief
Your Brief gives Claude the practical context it needs before it plans a single session.
-
Create your Boulie account
Install Boulie from your invite. Remember the email you use; Claude will need the same one in step 2.
-
Open Coach and complete your Brief
Give your coach enough information to make the first week useful:
- Your numbers: FTP and maximum heart rate, if you know them.
- Experience: how long you have been riding, structured or otherwise.
- Riding: the riding you enjoy and the equipment you have.
- Your week: available days, time, recurring rides, and weekly hours.
-
Skip the goal for now
You will set it in conversation with your coach. It is a better conversation than a form.
Connect Claude to Boulie
Add the connector from Claude in a web browser or the desktop app. You cannot add it from the Claude mobile app.
-
Open the connector settings
In Claude, go to Settings, then Connectors, then Add custom connector.
-
Add the Boulie connector
Paste this address exactly:
https://mcp.boulie.ai/mcp -
Sign in and approve access
Use the same email as your Boulie account, enter the one-time code, then approve the requested permissions.
Connect Strava to Claude
Claude reads your ride history directly from Strava. Boulie remains the home of the plan.
-
Find Strava in Claude's connector directory
Stay in Settings and Connectors, find Strava, and choose Connect.
-
Approve Strava access
Sign in to Strava and follow its permission screen. Your usual Strava activity workflow does not change.
Meet your coach
Start a new Claude chat, switch on both Boulie and Strava in the tools menu, then send this message.
You're my cycling coach, and this is our first conversation. My training plan lives in Boulie and my ride history is in Strava - both are connected. Start by reading my Boulie coaching context and my recent Strava riding so you know who you're coaching. Then interview me - briefly, a few questions at a time - about what I'm working toward and anything my Brief doesn't capture. Once we've agreed a goal, sketch out the longer-term plan to get there - how the weeks ahead build toward it - before we get into day-to-day detail. Then plan the current week in full. If I'd rather skip the long-term goal and just get a solid week of training, that's fine too. Save what we agree to Boulie and give me the week.
Your first week will be on the calendar. Tap any day to see the workout structure and targets Claude saved.
Optional: make it a Claude Project
For more consistent coaching conversations, add these instructions to a dedicated Claude Project.

Use my Boulie connector as the canonical source for my goal and training plan. At the start of a planning conversation, call getCoachingContext. Use getPlan only when you need complete detail for another date, week, or bounded range. If planned days have passed, call getChangesSince and close the judgment gap with recordReconciliation before writing future plan. If my Boulie account has no goal or plan yet, read my recent riding in Strava, agree a goal and plan shape with me in chat, commit them, and seed the coaching record with a provisional initial assessment. My Boulie anchors such as FTP, threshold pace, and max HR are authoritative. Quote real watts and paces from Boulie's resolved conversion ladder. If Strava shows different values, tell me to update Strava; never anchor prescriptions to it. Discuss a concise plan outline with me before changing anything. Call writePlan only after I explicitly confirm the change. When asking me to confirm, restate the full proposal in the confirmation message itself. Use the plan version from your read. If Boulie reports a version conflict, re-read the affected week and discuss any materially different result with me before retrying. Preserve dated availability and recurring commitments unless I explicitly ask to override that occurrence. After a successful write, tell me the committed version and what Boulie actually saved. Do not invent future plan detail. Future weeks and days are exactly what Boulie returns as stored.
The weekly rhythm
A couple of useful conversations each week is usually enough.
- TalkClaude
Share how training felt or what changed in your week.
- TrainBoulie
Use today's workout and the calendar as the plan of record.
- RecordStrava
Ride and upload as normal so your coach can review the evidence.
If something doesn't look right
Most setup problems come down to where the connector was added or which email was used.
Boulie tools do not appear in Claude
Add the connector from Claude on desktop or the web, then make sure Boulie is switched on in the current chat's tools menu.
Connector sign-in fails
Remove the connector and add it again using the same email as your Boulie account.
A saved change is not showing in Boulie
Pull down to refresh. If it still does not appear, close and reopen the app, then ask Claude what version Boulie saved.
